As noted in yesterday’s post – “The History and Controversy of Hitman”, the new episodic assassin series is one in a string of controversial marketing campaigns. They haven’t let us down this year, either, as advertisements featuring fake bloodstains in public bathrooms were documented on Twitter. Photographs from @graceblaise show the women’s bathrooms at the PC Gamer Weekender in London last week. While it seems a good marketing ploy, what with 47 famed for his inventive hiding of bodies, it seems the brains behind this one have… maybe… slightly… overlooked one aspect of their gag.
Hitman‘s inventive, and sometimes thoughtless, marketing strikes have in the past included latex-clad gun-wielding nuns, a cyber-bullying-ready Facebook app, and graphic magazine images. However you have to commend them on their unbreakable determination to shock the world into buying their product… even if this time it’s become bit of a Twitter laughing stock.
