Flaming Fowl Studios is the name that some of Lionhead’s old employees have procured for themselves following their mother studio’s closure. From the ashes of Fable Legends their phoenix game Fable Fortune is fighting to rise via Kickstarter.
The team have posted a listing on the crowd funding site seeking $365,385 to fund a free to play collectible card game after managing to hold onto the licence from Microsoft. The PC title is advertised as having “Co-op & PvP modes, set in the whimsical world of Albion”. The game has already been in the works for 18 months at Lionhead, and after obvious obstacles, those still in immediately turned to creating their own studio and furthering development. The licence they’ve managed to pluck from Microsoft isn’t a full Fable licence – that just doesn’t sound very Microsoft. Instead, the team has the green light to continue their work on the Fortune title.
They’ve fully embraced their independence now, and have taken to Kickstarter accordingly rather than approach top investors. As of writing, the project has received £23,616 ($34145.19) from 712 backers and is well on its way to completion.
