Oh hey, what’s this? An actual blog update… as in me, speaking to you, about this blog you all seem to be coming back to? Well hello.
I realise this is the first time I have actually written a blog update. For a long time this site was simply a way to get my writing about video games out there, and distract me from school work. Well, the school work is all done. I’ve graduated University and attempting to adult my way through life now.
The past few <cough> years have been amazing, with this last few months being truly astonishing. I want to keep writing for you guys, and I want to keep chatting, keep debating, and keep thinking with you all about the status of our beloved industry and the games it produces. Unfortunately, as I move into the adult world of work, it’s going to be a lot more difficult to keep providing this content.
But I won’t stop.
I simply need a bit of help to keep going. Because, as much as I would love to keep devoting my time to crafting discussion pieces, interviewing independent developers, and bringing you the latest take on the world of video games, I also need to eat. I’ve got some great stuff lined up, though. From podcast to video content, future interview opportunities to livestream hangout sessions, it’s all in the pipeline to truly ensure 2017 is the greatest year yet for us Mario Minions. Not to mention it too early or anything, but there’s also kind of a book that kind of might be happening…
So I’ve made a Patreon account. But don’t click away yet.
To get exclusive early access to this new content, and make sure I can survive while bringing you gorgeous thumb tappers your usual mix of Musings, even the smallest contribution would mean the world to me. For the price of a coffee, a sandwich, or a small pizza a month you can gain access to exclusive new content and Q/A opportunities with the independent developers I interview. I know we’re not the biggest blog in the market place, but with your help our community of fun-loving, thought-mongering players and thinkers can grow and build a more academic, thorough understanding of video game play and design.
There are some of you who have been here since the beginning, and others who have only just joined our comment box fray. I would like to thank all of you for your continued support, regardless of whether you are able to contribute on Patreon. I’m not going to keep banging on about it, I promise, and non-supporters won’t be missing out on anything they weren’t already receiving from the blog. I just want to keep moving onwards and upwards, and taking on new challenges.
So, until the next time I decide to pour my heart into a WordPress CMS, keep musing.
